The Chairman’s Podium

Dear Friends,

On Behalf of Myself, The Executive Council and the Elected District Leaders, we would like to invite you to stop by our new Headquarters located in the Pelham Bay Section of  The Bronx.  We believe the store front headquarters will be more accessible for our members and allows us to be more visible to our fellow Bronxites who we hope will join us.

Last year at this time I wrote of taking baby steps towards higher goals that The Bronx County GOP dared to dream.  My friends, in the last few months we have gone further up that path.

As we began to look for possible candidates for all our local and statewide elections, I was asked to meet with many Candidates interested in running for Governor.  Let’s face it:  you and I both know that it is often difficult being a Republican in this state.  But in the past few years, as it had when Ronald Regan came to the Presidency, there is a clear definition of what a Republican and a Democrat stand for and I sincerely believe that the core values held by the Republican Party  - in particular a fiscally conservative stand on taxes and spending - will be the only way of saving the country and the State as we know and love it.

With that in mind, the entire Bronx County GOP Executive Council and its District Leaders endorse wholeheartedly Steven Levy for Governor.  He is the right man for the time and he has the talent and ability to lead us out of the Democratic nightmare that is  Albany.   In March we were asked to gather a few people to go up to Albany to show support for Steve as he announced his candidacy.  The calls went out and the response was so great that we had to get a bus to take everyone up to the State Capitol.  Once there and inspired by the speeches of State Chairman Cox and Steve, we took the momentum back and then went with him to Battery Park where he had an evening Press conference.  It feels good to support someone with no nonsense common sense, the ability and talent to do the job and the desire to do the job well not just be elected to the title.

My friends that is the next step.  To stand up and not take no for an answer.  Page two of this site begins to tell you what we believe in . it is time to stand up for smaller government, a freeze on taxes, a complete review of all spending  and a common sense approach to creating a budget and sticking to it.

We also have had four days of fantastic interviews of candidates that we are pleased and excited about  - we really believe we have found people from all of our neighborhoods that can be elected and make a difference.  That they are people that you can believe in.  But we do not want to  announce them until after the State convention so please visit this site after the 4th and we hope to have a page on each of the candidates as well as a link to their own sites.

As always thank you for all that you do to support us - the need is so great now that if you have any time to volunteer or want to work the polls, please feel free to contact us and we will get back to you.

Enjoy your upcoming holiday but please support The American Legion this week and buy a poppy to remember all those who fought and died for us then for us to live in freedom now.
